50 Years in Stone

New Award Fabrication Design By Olivia Crosby

Reflecting on the CADC’s 50th Awards Show

Creative talent always has, and always will, run through Connecticut. And if we needed further proof, the 50th Annual CADC Awards Show demonstrated just how much a connected, supportive community can do to elevate and strengthen that talent.

Our founder, Mark Vogt, joined us at the Awards Show to remind us why we were all there in the first place—to celebrate the unyielding vitality of a creative community. The stories he shared from the early days of the CADC offered both inspiration and a sense of possibility for what comes next. They reminded us we’re not starting from scratch—we’re building on something meaningful. Something Mark and the early CADC members built for all of us.

The CADC’s mission was and is always clear

We exist to uphold creative excellence. Since 1975, we’ve championed bold ideas, exceptional craft, the people who make them happen, and everything in between. All while creating opportunities for our creative community to connect, learn, and grow.

Highlights

Carissa Decelles Service Award Recipient

We honored our late president, Carissa Decelles, with our Service Award. Carissa’s dedication to the CADC when she was a student at UConn expanded tenfold once she assumed the role of president. She was an advocate in every sense of the word. Her parents, Johnna and James Janiak, and her service dog, Ren, were met with a standing ovation as they accepted the award.

Lindsay Fiedler Awarded our Student Scholarship

This year’s recipient of the Monica Wolff and Randall Smith Scholarship was recent UConn graduate Lindsay Fiedler. She is passionate about using design to solve real-world problems and strengthen communities by making everyday experiences more equitable, accessible, and engaging.

The Experience

Congratulations to All of Our Winners!

We’ve been around for 50 years not only because our state is full of talent, but because a group of really smart people decided early on that the people behind the work deserved to be celebrated. The foundation they laid is what allows us to look ahead to the next 50 years with the same sense of purpose and possibility.

If you would like to contribute to our future, we encourage you to reach out.
